16:9 - picture aspect ratio used for HDTV and digital Standard Definition
24P - 24 frames per second, Progressive Scan.
24PsF Segmented Frame - Sony's version of 24P,
25P - 25 fps Frames per Second, Progressive Scan - used by PAL countries using 50hz Broadcast system
1080i - 16:9 aspect ratio, ATSC standard 1920x1080 pixels, Interlaced, the North American NTSC standard.
Here we run into some confusion. The 1920x1080 pixel standard is defined as such by the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee - www.atsc.oeg). However this seems to allpy to only broadcasters who deliver signals over the air. Cable companies and satellite companies and optical discs don't meet this standard. They reduce the specifications to 1440x1080 or 1280x1080 pixels. My Sony XBR LCD High-Def LCD screen is only 1440x1080 although the new model is 1920x1080.
